Web Work

Project Details

While working at Digital Minerva, my team and I worked to design a brand new site for this wonderful nonprofit. We worked closely with the brand developer to ensure that his initial aesthetic vision for On The Road was successfully translated to the web. The site’s use of gold and black, heavy all-caps fonts, and a photo-heavy design informs users of this organization’s mission right from the homepage. This new site needed to portray On the Road as the bold, inspiring, and inuential nonprot that they are. Their previous site did not do them the justice they deserved and this new site allows them to put their best foot forward for both potential donors and students.

Rebranding Design

Logo Design

Finch Bicycles

Logo Design

Project Details

As an avid cyclist, my partner dreams of one day starting his own bicycle company – aptly named Finch Bicycles. So I decided to create a logo and brand for this (now) fictitious company. With the branding, we wanted to achieve a modern and unique take on the classic bicycle emblematic logos. The iconic Finch F is custom work with a hidden finch inside.

A local audio engineer came to me in need of a logo that showed off his skills and his gritty vibe. He requested something that showcases “nerdy audio stuff” thus the sound wave, and drawing of audio equipment! This encapsulates his professionalism, yet shows that he works with edgier, heavier music clients. In the end, the client was thrilled with the final product!

K Brown Photography

Logo Design

Project Details

A local photographer came to me seeking a rebrand — including a logo design. She wanted something professional, sleek, modern, and not too colorful. Fun fact: she originally told me that she didn’t want color in her branding at all, but we decided that some brown would give an element of warmth and approachability. I created this logo, Instagram highlights, branding icons, and many Instagram posts for this client.

Mailer Design & More

Project Details

While working at Digital Minerva, I was tasked with creating the mailer for our client, MBU’s annual Day of Giving. This mailer was sent to alumni, current students, donors and more. The mailer had to tie into their MBU Empowers campaign aesthetics, thus the gold spring, blue tinted portraits and more. I also helped MBU revamp their Admissions campaign, and Giving Day campaigns, where I created postcards, social posts, mailers, and more.

The Bluestone: Bold

Yearbook Cover Design

Project Details

While Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Bluestone yearbook at JMU, I created a theme for the book to follow in both visuals and text: Bold. I lead the design team to create a book-wide design scheme that was modern, featured bright colors, and stand-out typographical choices. I designed the book’s cover to grab our audience’s attention and give them a taste of the eye-catching design waiting for them inside.

WXJM

Poster Design

Project Details

While working as the Publicity Designer for WXJM, I worked to create a brand identity for the radio station. And this poster was part of a university-wide campaign to promote our station and raise awareness that we were back on air. WXJM is known for being quirky and counter-culture, so I wanted to reflect that in this eye-catching, yet odd design.

Copy Writing

Project Details

While working at Rocket Pop Media, I wrote and created dozens of email marketing campaigns for several clients. Each campaign was tailored to the client’s brand and audience, with unique content in every email.

I worked directly with ATiR Natural Nail Care to brainstorm, generate, write, and design content for their weekly email marketing campaigns for their loyal customer base. I also worked directly with Federal Realty to brainstorm, generate, and write monthly email marketing campaigns for each of their 7 high-end shopping districts in the DC Metro area.

While working at Digital Minerva, I worked with Shenandoah Valley Airport (SHD) to completely restructure, reorganize, and edit the copy for their entire site. I spent many hours researching, plotting a new site map, interviewing, copy editing, and copywriting to create a well-organized and well-written site that communicated SHD’s offerings to its customer base, and marketed the airport to the region.

While working as Copy Editor at The Bluestone, I pitched the idea to interview a unique professor for an article. For this piece, I interviewed Dr. Lawler and wrote about his fascinating research and career. This article follows The Bluestone’s style guide and AP style.

This is a non-fiction long-form literary journalism piece that centers around the poor working conditions of waitresses – centered around a waitress that I conducted several interviews with.

This research paper analyzes speeches and petitions to argue the relevance of women’s roles in activism in the 19th century.

This paper was selected for presentation at JMU’s General Education Conference.

Digital Portrait

Project Details

This was a project I did for fun a few years ago. A mosaic-style portrait of my best friend, created in Adobe Illustrator. This piece was selected to be presented in a limited-run display at the Baltimore Museum of Art in my hometown of Baltimore, MD.

This is another project I did for fun. I took Frida Kahlo’s famous painting “Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird” and animated it in Adobe Photoshop. Frida is my long-time favorite artist, and this is one of my favorite paintings of hers, as is Las Dos Fridas.
